Malibu High School
New 45,000 sf administration building with library and science labs, new 12,000 sf two story GrowthPoint classroom building, demolition of existing classroom building, administration building, and library building. The project also involves relocation of the campus MDF to a new location to allow the school to operate during construction after demolition of the old administration building, as well as significant landscaping and hardscape improvements.
This is a project constructed on an active campus, which involved significant remediation and abatement of hazardous materials, including PCBs. This project involved approvals from the California Coastal Commission, the City of Malibu, and DSA. In addition, it faced significant challenges in the form of a Federal lawsuit related to PCBs as well as neighborhood opposition to a parking lot and exterior lighting, all of which have been resolved under Massetti Consulting’s leadership. The project garnered significant public interest and required near-constant communication from the program team to District administration and leadership as well as significant communication with the school community and the community at large.
