District-Wide Window/Paint/Doors Replacement Project, SMMUSD
The projects consist of replacement of all windows and doors installed prior to 1979, replacement of all flooring, interior painting, fire alarm replacement, some ceiling replacement, and certain accessibility improvements at all elementary school campuses in the District. Like many districts, SMMUSD suffered for years with underfunded maintenance budgets, which resulted in less than optimal learning spaces and inefficient windows and doors. This project systematically improved each school, beginning with the elementary schools through a series of summer projects. Although challenging, the work has been successfully accomplished each summer with minimal impact to students and staff.
