OUR PHILOSOPHY

We are true advocates for our clients. Our philosophy, on any project, whether providing part-time assistance or staff augmentation, managing a specific project, or overseeing the entire bond program, is that we operate as though we are an extension of our Client’s staff, while respecting the hierarchy of Client’s organization. Since we are a small firm, we are able to offer a personalized approach to each project we take on. 

We genuinely see ourselves (and try to be seen) as a critical part of the greater team, with the same ultimate goal, and we conduct ourselves in a manner that will lead us to become indispensable team members. Our goal is not to manage one project and move on, but to create a professional relationship that will last for years to come.

                                                               Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD)

The founder of Massetti Consulting, Steve Massetti is currently serving as the District-wide Program Manager for the Bond-funded Construction Program, involving several new construction and modernization projects for the District at more than 15 campuses. Kevin Klaus is currently the Deputy Program Manager.

June 2018- Present

Malibu High School

New 45,000 sf administration building with library and science labs, new 12,000 sf two story GrowthPoint classroom building, demolition of existing classroom building, administration building, and library building.

Construction Value: Approximately $65M

Santa Monica High School

A new 260,000 sf building with classrooms, special education suites, computer and science labs, rooftop classrooms, photovoltaic panels, commissary kitchen, cafeteria, administrative offices, multi-use commons areas, Olympic-size swimming pool and aquatics facilities, subterranean parking, and appurtenant landscape/hardscape.

Construction Value: Approximately $112.5M

District-wide HVAC Installation 16 campuses

Massetti Consulting has provided overall project management, project development and budgeting, preconstruction services, and construction management oversight for these new HVAC installation projects. The District has embarked on a series of projects that will install new HVAC systems throughout the District.

District-Wide Window/Paint/Doors Replacement Project, SMMUSD

The projects consist of replacement of all windows and doors installed prior to 1979, replacement of all flooring, interior painting, fire alarm replacement, some ceiling replacement, and certain accessibility improvements at all elementary school campuses in the District.

Construction Value: Approximately $70M

John Adams Middle School (JAMS) Performing Arts Center

This project includes the demolition of 650 seat auditorium constructed in the early 1950’s and the construction of a new 750 seat state of the art performing arts center including theater seating, stage, back of house requirements, choir room, practice facility, exterior courtyard, and lobby.

Malibu Campus Plan

In about 2014, the District discovered the existence of PCBs in building materials throughout the MMHS campus, in buildings constructed before 1979. The Malibu community has expressed a strong desire to separate the Middle and High Schools and to replace all buildings that include PCB-containing material. SMMUSD has now embarked on an ambitious plan to create two adjacent campuses for the middle school and the high school. Massetti Consulting has led this effort, utilizing LPA as the master plan architect.

District-wide Campus Facilities Assessments and Master Planning

Upon passing two SFID General Obligation Bonds in the 2018 election, the District has undertaken an effort to conduct campus assessments at all Elementary and Middle School Campuses and to engage in master planning of those campuses. Procurement for these services is currently underway by Massetti Consulting.

Webster Elementary School Parking Lot and Drop Off Area

This reconstruction project centered around the expansion of the main drop off area from a capacity of 2 cars to 10 cars at one time. Other project features included the addition of a 65 space parking lot, a separate bus drop off lane, and the complete removal and reconstruction of all asphalt playground areas.

Malibu Schools Alignment, Portable Replacement Point Dume (Phase I & Phase II)

Due to declining enrollment and small student populations, it became necessary for SMMUSD to consolidate two elementary schools beginning in Fall 2019. Massetti Consulting led the effort to analyze the school sites, determine the feasibility of consolidating the two schools onto one existing campus, conduct the planning elements necessary to fit the new students at one site, and communicate the messaging out to the two school communities and the community at large.
